Trudie Styler and Sting's Rainforest Foundation Fund's "Some Kinda Legacy" Benefit Concert Celebrates 15th Performance May 8th at Carnegie Hall

Billy Joel, James Taylor, Sting, Brian Wilson, Chris Botti, Feist, Roberto Alagna, and Musical Family Members to Perform Along with Many More Special Guests

Concert Once in a Lifetime "All Access" Concert/Gala Experience to be Auctioned

New York. 27 March 2008
This year marks the 20th year since Trudie Styler and her husband Sting took their first trip to the Brazilian Rainforest and their commitment began.  What subsequently followed was the founding of the Rainforest Foundation Fund.   On May 8th they celebrate another milestone, the 15th RFF  “Some Kinda Legacy” Benefit Concert at the eminent Carnegie Hall followed by a gala dinner in the newly restored legendary Plaza Hotel’s Grand Ballroom.   Billy Joel, James Taylor, Sting, Brian Wilson, Chris Botti, Feist, celebrated French operatic tenor Roberto Alagna, cellist Natalie Clein plus some very special musical family members along with many more special guests will perform one night only on behalf of the Rainforest Foundation Fund.  MacAndrews & Forbes, one of the RFF's longest-running corporate supporters will be joined this year by Crate and Barrel as the evening's Co-Sponsors.

To celebrate the achievements of The Rainforest Foundation Fund and to raise awareness of its mission, Crate and Barrel's Madison Avenue windows in New York City will feature images of inspiring success stories from the world’s rainforests and a special once in a lifetime "All Access" Concert/Gala experience will be auctioned off on www.CharityBuzz.com beginning March 27 – April 10th. This remarkable, unprecedented package includes access to an exclusive closed-set dress rehearsal, a private box at Carnegie Hall, a table at the Plaza Hotel’s Grand Ballroom for the after-show gala, plus much more!

“Once again I have the great privilege of producing an all-star line-up for the Rainforest Foundation benefit at Carnegie Hall,” said Trudie Styler.  “It is a tremendous thrill for me to work with so many responsible and generous artists, who all step up with such grace to make this show one of the most unique and talked-about concerts of the calendar. What inspires us all to keep participating in this regular event is recognizing the importance of taking care of our precious planet, and working to protect it from further degradation. The money we raise will improve the lives of so many indigenous people – giving them safer water, protected homelands and a sustainable future – and in turn will make us all the beneficiaries of a healthier planet.”

Created in 1989, The Rainforest Foundation Fund did not emerge out of an abstract concern or theory about the environment or indigenous peoples. It began because an indigenous leader asked for Trudie Styler and Sting’s help. They agreed to involve themselves tirelessly in support of that call because they understood that the threat to the home of those indigenous people was part of a larger threat to all of us, and our future. Over the years, many of the objectives of the Rainforest Foundation Fund, and the national organizations - RFF Norway, RFF UK, RFF USA, which now covers three continents, Asia, Africa and the Americas, have been successfully achieved.   However, the work is far from over as they continue to focus on crucial issues such as land rights, security, natural resources management, community and organizational development, cultural revitalization, protection of human rights and supporting the indigenous people.

According to RFF International Chairperson, Franca Sciuto:  “Whatever success we achieve is in large measure the success of those who are at the forefront of the struggle to protect their land, their rights, their lives, the indigenous peoples and tribal populations of the world to whom we renew our commitment. Our thanks go to Sting and Trudie for their continued support, to our supporters and donors.”   For more information please visit the website at www.rainforestfoundationfund.org

London, February 26, 2008
For immediate Release

An Evening with Brian Wilson

London, Tuesday 26th February, Following the amazing reviews and outstanding critical acclaim from Brian’s 2007 World Tour, which included 6 sold out nights at London’s Royal Festival Hall, Brian has announced that’ll he’ll be back in the UK for three very special ‘Greatest Hits’ shows in the summer of 2008.

Brian Wilson and his amazing band will be opening the 2008 Kenwood Concert season, outdoors at Kenwood House on the 28th June, he’ll then take the show to perform for the first time since 2004 in Ipswich at the Regent Theatre on June 29th, and his last UK show of 2008 will be in the magnificent surroundings of London’s Royal Albert Hall on July 1st.

Brian Wilson, legendary writer, producer, arranger and performer of some of the most unforgettable and inspirational music in rock history, returned to our shores in September 2007 with a concert repertoire highlighted by the world premiere of a brand-new work called ‘That Lucky Old Sun (a Narrative)’, which received nightly standing ovations and rave reviews.

This time around Brian will be digging even deeper into his remarkable song catalogue with his formidable ten-piece band, and will be presenting a number of his classic compositions as well as a collection of his greatest hits that will please everyone in the room.

Brian’s past shows have sold out immediately and have been greeted with such acclaim that Wilson was invited to perform at the Queen’s Jubilee Concert in 2002 at Buckingham Palace.  Among those who attended Brian’s performances were, Paul McCartney, Roger Daltrey, Eric Clapton, Elvis Costello, Richard Ashcroft, and others.

In February 2004, for the first time in his 40-year career, Wilson performed his mythical unreleased masterpiece, Smile, live in the UK, propelling that symphonic work to global acclaim, a gold record in the UK and worldwide sales approaching one million.  Those 2004 concerts included classic Beach Boys and Brian Wilson favourites as well as selections from his most recent solo album Gettin’ In Over My Head (Rhino 2004), his first 21st -century studio album.

The Co-Founder of The Beach Boys that is Brian Wilson, played a one off show at London’s Adelphi Theatre to rave reviews in November 2006, to celebrate its 40th Anniversary and performed the Classic album ‘Pet Sounds’ in its entirety for the very last time in the UK, not a dry eye in the house.

Born and raised in California, Wilson co-founded The Beach Boys with his two younger brothers Carl and Dennis, cousin Mike Love and school friend Alan Jardine.  They became the most successful American rock band in history.

These concerts mark Brian Wilson’s eighth return to the UK.  He is one of popular music's most deeply revered figures, the main creative force behind some of the most cherished music in rock history. Indeed, it is no exaggeration to call Brian Wilson one of the most influential composers of the last century.

Brian, after numerous nominations, finally won a well-deserved Grammy Award at the 47th annual awards, for ‘Best Rock Instrumental Performance’ for ‘Mrs.O’Leary’s Cow’ and he was inducted in the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2006. Last December he was the proud recipient of the Kennedy Center Honor alongside Diana Ross, Martin Scorsese and Steve Martin and Leon Fleisher.

What the critics have said:

“I have probably been to thousands of pop concerts in my life. But I have never felt anything like what I sensed here. - What I felt was love, waves of it, like heat’ – Evening Standard

‘Grown men wept as the 61-year-old performed a set of around 20 songs, including classics such as Wouldn't It Be Nice and California Girls. Wilson opened the sell-out concert with an intimate unplugged set accompanied by his 11-strong band.’ – BBC News

LEON FLEISHER, STEVE MARTIN, DIANA ROSS MARTIN SCORSESE AND BRIAN WILSON TO RECEIVE 30TH ANNUAL KENNEDY CENTER HONORS

America to Celebrate the Careers of Five Extraordinary Artists, Sunday, December 2, 2007

Gala will be broadcast on CBS on Wed., Dec. 26 at 9pm (EST)

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts announced the selection of the individuals who will receive the Kennedy Center Honors of 2007.  Recipients to be honored at the 30th annual national celebration of the arts are: pianist Leon Fleisher, actor and writer Steve Martin, singer Diana Ross, film director Martin Scorsese, and songwriter Brian Wilson.

“With their extraordinary talent, creativity, and perseverance, the five 2007 Honorees have transformed the way we, as Americans, see, hear and feel the performing arts. We will forever be thankful for the great gift they have shared with us,” said Kennedy Center Chairman Stephen A. Schwarzman.  “Leon Fleisher is a consummate musician whose career is a moving testament to the life-affirming power of art; Steve Martin is a Renaissance comic whose talents wipe out the boundaries between artistic disciplines; Diana Ross’s singular, instantly recognizable voice has spread romance and joy throughout the world; Martin Scorsese is a visionary filmmaker and a fearless artist; and Brian Wilson led not only a spectacularly popular rock group but also an era-defining transformation of the sound of music.”

The annual Honors Gala has become the highlight of the Washington cultural year, and its broadcast on CBS, is a high point of the television season.  On Sunday, December 2, in a star-studded celebration on the Kennedy Center Opera House stage, produced by George Stevens Jr., the 2007 Honorees will be saluted by great performers from Hollywood and the arts capitals of the world. Seated with the President of the United States and Mrs. Bush, the Honorees will accept the thanks of their peers and fans through performances and heartfelt tributes. Past performances have included massed virtuoso violins, multiple marching bands, and superstars from Hollywood, Nashville, Motown, Paris, London and more, all performing tributes to the Honorees.

The President and Mrs. Bush will receive the Honorees and members of the Artists Committee, who nominate them, along with the Kennedy Center Board of Trustees at the White House prior to the gala performance.  The 2007 Kennedy Center Honors Gala concludes with a supper dance in the Grand Foyer.

The Kennedy Center Honors will be bestowed the night before the gala on Saturday, December 1, at a State Department dinner, hosted by the Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice.

The Honors Gala will be recorded for broadcast on the CBS Network on Wednesday, December 26 at 9pm (EST) for the 30th consecutive year as a two-hour prime time special.

Stevens, who created the Honors in 1978 with Nick Vanoff, will produce and co-write the show for the 30th year.  The Honors telecast has been honored with five Emmy’s for Outstanding Program and is nominated again this year.  It has also been recognized with the Peabody Award for Outstanding Contribution to Television and seven awards from the Writers Guild of America.

The Boeing Company is the exclusive underwriter of the 2007 Kennedy Center Honors Gala and weekend of events, which includes the honorees luncheon and post-gala supper dance in the Grand Foyer.

Delta Air Lines, the official airline of the Kennedy Center Honors television broadcast, will provide transportation for the performers and television crew that will be coming to Washington for the Honors Gala.

The Honors recipients recognized for their lifetime contributions to American culture through the performing arts— whether in dance, music, theater, opera, motion pictures or television—are selected by the Center’s Board of Trustees. The primary criterion in the selection process is excellence. The Honors are not designated by art form or category of artistic achievement; the selection process, over the years, has produced balance among the various arts and artistic disciplines.

Members of the Kennedy Center’s national artists committee, as well as past Honorees, made recommendations of possible Honorees.  Among the artists making recommendations were: Emanuel Ax, Dan Aykroyd, Jon Robin Baitz, Dave Brubeck, Kenny Chesney, Francis Ford Coppola, Melissa Etheridge, Laurence Fishburne, Renee Fleming, Anjelica Huston, India.Arie, Evgeny Kissin, Rob Marshall, Peter Martins, Terrence McNally, Helen Mirren, Anna Netrebko, Christopher Plummer, Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, Catherine Zeta-Jones.  Previous Kennedy Center Honorees Edward Albee, Julie Andrews, Carol Burnett, Sean Connery, Bill Cosby, Kirk Douglas, Elton John, Mike Nichols, Smokey Robinson and Steven Spielberg also made nominations.

Michael M. Kaiser, President of the Center, expressed the national cultural center’s gratitude to the many individuals involved in the success of the Honors program.  “In addition to recognizing our most treasured artists, the Kennedy Center Honors also supports many of our performing arts initiatives, education and public service programming, and national outreach efforts.”

Brian Wilson Performing the World Premier of new work That Lucky Old Sun and a selection of never before performed classics.

Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall means many things to many people. Though, for some, it will always be the historic location of Brian Wilson's first-ever UK performances as a solo artist: The hallowed spot where audiences enthralled to the first ever live performances of Pet Sounds in its entirety (2002), and the stage which saw the live premiere of the fabled Smile (2004).

In September 2007 legendary writer, producer, arranger and performer of some of the most unforgettable and inspirational music in rock history, Brian Wilson, returns to the Royal Festival Hall, his “spiritual home away from home” for six nights. The concert repertoire will include the world premiere of a brand-new work. Commissioned by Southbank Centre as part of its opening season, Wilson reveals that the piece “is called That Lucky Old Sun (a Narrative)”, and as he describes it, “will consist of five ‘rounds’ with interspersed spoken word.”

Last summer Brian Wilson found himself singing the 1949 classic song That Lucky Old Sun, which then became the inspiration for a completely new narrative. He went to Tower Records and bought the Louis Armstrong version of the track and was inspired. The new work will have different parts, including the original music of That Lucky Old Sun, a spoken-word narration as well as newly composed songs. One of the new songs, Midnight’s Another Day, has been described by Mojo Magazine as “glorious.”

Brian Wilson teamed with Van Dyke Parks, his old ‘sidekick’ and lyricist behind Smile, over the past year on the narratives for a new album. The piece features ten songs and five narratives which will be interrupted by That Lucky Old Sun, the narrator telling the story. The five narratives are cameos on life and the heartbeat of Los Angeles.

In addition to the world premiere of the new work, there will be quite a few other surprises in store. Accompanied by his formidable 10-piece band, along with the Stockholm strings and horns, the co-founder of The Beach Boys will be digging even deeper into his remarkable song catalogue to perform a number of his classic compositions, some of which have never been performed live before. A further highlight of the September concerts will be Brian’s version of one of his favourite Beatles songs, marking the 40th anniversary of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Brian Wilson says:
“I’m so excited to get back to the Royal Festival Hall and for all of my UK fans to hear my new composition That Lucky Old Sun (a narrative). I honestly can’t think of a better place in the world to premiere it.”

Glenn Max, Producer, Meltdown Festival & Music Programmes at Southbank Centre says:

"Brian Wilson's artistic rebirth has become inextricably entwined with the recent history of the Southbank. So, we were thrilled when Brian accepted our commission to compose and perform brand new work. The very thought of new music from the man who brought us some of pop music's most sublime moments, though not without its risks, is a deeply tantalising prospect for all concerned."

Notes:
That Lucky Old Sun is a well-known song and the music was written by Beasley Smith, the lyrics by Haven Gillespie. The song was published in 1949 and the biggest hit version of the song was by Frankie Laine. Subsequently the song has been covered by many others including Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra and Ray Charles.

London, Thursday 31st May, Brian Wilson, legendary writer, producer, arranger and performer of some of the most unforgettable and inspirational music in rock history, returns in September 2007 with a concert repertoire highlighted by the world premiere of a brand-new work. Wilson reveals that the piece "is called That Lucky Old Sun (a Narrative), and as he describes it, "will consist of four ‘rounds’, with interspersed spoken word."

In addition to that premiere, there will be quite a few other surprises in the concerts: Brian will be digging even deeper into his remarkable song catalogue and with his formidable ten-piece band, will be presenting a number of his classic compositions that he has never performed live as well as at least one song in honour of a very important anniversary.

Wilson and The Beach Boys are responsible for such spectacular works as Good Vibrations, I Get Around, Help Me Rhonda, California Girls, Wouldn't It Be Nice, Don't Talk (Put Your Head On My Shoulder), God Only Knows and I Just Wasn't Made For These Times.

These concerts mark Brian Wilson’s seventh return to the UK.  He is one of popular music's most deeply revered figures, the main creative force behind some of the most cherished music in rock history. NARM, ROCK HALL’S “DEFINITIVE 200” CAMPAIGN KICKS OFF W/SPECIAL LOS ANGELES MEDIA EVENT AT CAPITOL STUDIOS’ HISTORIC “STUDIO A”

BRIAN WILSON TO PERFORM SONGS FROM THE BEACH BOYS’ LEGENDARY “PET SOUNDS”ALBUM

Promotion highlights 200 of popular music’s greatest albums

Los Angeles, California -- NARM, the National Association of Recording Merchandisers, and the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame have announced they will co-host, along with EMI Music Marketing, a special press conference to introduce the “Definitive 200;” a list of 200 classic albums and soundtracks selected by music retailers that should be in every music collection. The ranked list will be revealed on the morning of March 6, when the nationwide promotion begins at retail stores across America.

“It’s only fitting that we be joined at our press conference on March 7 heralding the Definitive 200 promotion by a living musical legend who is the creative genius behind one of the greatest albums ever made,” said NARM president, Jim Donio. “It’s our honor to announce that Brian Wilson will perform songs from The Beach Boys album, “Pet Sounds” at this event.”

The albums and their rankings on the Definitive 200 list were determined by a committee comprising a cross-section of NARM member music retailers. “They looked for what makes a classic album,” said Donio. “Our members chose the albums that have consistently excited record buyers over the years and those that have the potential for continued success based on enduring popularity. Some of them are recognizable landmark albums, while others are very new by contemporary artists. We have Pop, Country, R&B, Rock, Rap, Punk, Jazz, Soul, Reggae, and more. Hopefully, the inevitable debate about the 200 must-own albums will underscore just how much the music and the art form mean to everyone.”

The performance and press conference will take place in Studio A inside Capitol Studios, which is in the iconic Capitol Records building in Los Angeles. Studio A has been the site of recordings by iconic artists including Frank Sinatra, The Beach Boys, Dean Martin, and many others. In addition to Brian Wilson’s acoustic performance, several speakers will offer remarks, beginning at 10:30 AM sharp. They are: Jim Donio, president of NARM; Susan B. Peterson, NARM’s chairman of the board, from Target Stores; Ronn Werre, president of EMI Music Marketing; Bill Gagnon, SVP catalog marketing for EMI Music Marketing; Todd Mesek, vice president of communications at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.

“The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is so proud of this promotion, celebrating the album, and so excited that Brian Wilson is performing some of his most beloved songs at our press conference,” said Joel Peresman, president of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, which oversees the inductions in New York and the museum in Cleveland. “It’s especially timely for us, because we’re opening an exhibit on the Beach Boys in the Rock Hall museum in Cleveland in June. The Beach Boys exhibit will run from June through December. All of these elements are reflected in our partnership with NARM on the Definitive 200 promotion: connecting successful, classic existing albums to current artists and new music, looking for new classics to come and inviting music lovers to visit their favorite music retailers to complete their collections.”

“We’re pleased to join with NARM and the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame to honor all of the stellar albums and artists represented in the Definitive 200 list,” said Bill Gagnon, SVP catalog marketing for EMI Music Marketing. “The Beach Boys’ ‘Pet Sounds’ is universally cited as one of the best albums ever recorded, and we’re thrilled that Brian Wilson will join us at Capitol Studios to celebrate this new honor.  We’ll announce some exciting Beach Boys news from Capitol/EMI at the event, as well.”

Consumers will become aware of the Definitive 200 promotion through advertising as well as signage and displays in stores and on web sites. Beginning on March 6, you can find the complete ranked list of the Definitive 200 and much more information about the albums and artists at www.definitive.com and www.rockhall.com.

Now in its third year, The UK Music Hall of Fame 2006 Induction Ceremony will take place on 14th November and will for the second year running be staged at London’s Alexandra Palace, hosted by Dermot O’Leary.  The event will be transmitted on Channel 4 on 16th November and on VH1 in the USA on 25th November.  Radio 2’s Mark Radcliffe will be presenting his show live from the event on 14th November between 10.00pm-12.00midnight.

This year’s line up of live performances and special tributes include inductee Brian Wilson and his band performing live; British soul sensation Joss Stone and R&B legend Patti LaBelle performing two of Dusty Springfield’s greatest hits and rock’s latest stars, Wolfmother performing a tribute to Led Zeppelin.

Tickets are now on sale (see below) and further details of performances and inductees will be announced nearer to transmission.

The four inductees will join legendary Beatles producer Sir George Martin who is receiving this year's Honorary Membership in recognition of his exceptional contribution to British music.

Jules Oldroyd, Head of Scheduling, T4 and Music at Channel 4 said: “We hope the third year of the event will be the most exciting yet with some truly unique performances from the legends themselves and also tributes from some of the best contemporary acts around at the moment.”

Nic McNeilis, Executive Producer at Initial: “The impact these artists have had on British music over the years is immense.  They are all true legends in the industry and undeniably deserve their place in the UK Music Hall of Fame.”

Brian Wilson is the writer, producer, arranger and performer of some of the most cherished songs in music history.

As co-founder of the Beach Boys, his unique sound and innovative recordings dominated the UK and US charts in the early sixties. As a solo artist he has recorded seven albums, which have continued to showcase his immense song writing skills.  This year marks the 40th anniversary of the release of Pet Sounds, the album Paul McCartney cited as the influence behind Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band

Dusty Springfield is widely recognised as one of the greatest female singers of all time. Idolised worldwide for her powerful, emotional vocals and distinctive style, Dusty's death in 1999 at the age of 59 robbed the world of a unique talent. However, her musical legacy lives on, as remastered and reversioned releases of her classic albums ensure Dusty’s popularity has never been higher.

Led Zeppelin are credited by many to be one of the greatest and most influential rock bands of all time.

They defined stadium rock in the Seventies with a series of thunderous performances and worldwide hits such as “Whole Lotta Love” and “Stairway to Heaven”. Led Zeppelin have sold over 300 million albums worldwide and 25 years after disbanding, their music still influences bands today.

Rod Stewart's career spans five decades - and with album sales exceeding 135 million, plus worldwide sell-out tours as standard - he's showing no sign of stopping. A born entertainer, his distinctive soulful vocals and iconic style have endeared him to music fans worldwide. Rod's reworking of classic tracks in his Grammy Award winning 'American Songbook' series has brought his work to a new, even larger audience, and on October 23rd he returns with his first rock album in 8 years: ‘Still The Same…Great Rock Classics Of Our Time’. A landmark recording of immortal songs, it's produced by John Shanks and sits comfortably alongside the best of Rod's accomplished career.

Since its launch in 2004, the UK Music Hall of Fame has inducted 20 of the greatest names in music history including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Madonna, Bob Dylan, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, U2, Bob Marley, Elvis Presley and The Kinks.

Artists are selected for induction by the UK Music Hall of Fame Steering Group - a panel comprising over 60 respected artists, music journalists, broadcasters and music industry executives.

The Co-Founder of The Beach Boys that is Brian Wilson, will be playing a one off show at London’s Adelphi Theatre on Sunday 12th November, and to celebrate its 40th Anniversary will be performing the Classic album ‘Pet Sounds’ in its entirety for the very last time in the UK.

The legendary writer, producer, arranger and performer of some of the most unforgettable and inspirational music in rock history, Wilson will again perform with his extraordinary ten-piece band.

These concerts mark Brian Wilson’s sixth return to the UK.  The triumphant staging of ‘Pet Sounds’ in January 2002 was followed by a return visit for encore performances in June of that year. 2004 debut performances of ‘SMiLE’ attracted fans from all over the world including Sir Paul McCartney, George Martin, Paul Weller, Roger Daltrey, Natalie Imbruglia, Daniel Johns, Geoff Hoon, Greg Dyke, and Fran Healy of Travis.

Pet Sounds, The Beach Boys’ 12th studio album, is universally hailed as one of the most important recordings of all time. EMI Catalogue Marketing released it along with previously unseen dvd footage and unheard tracks on 28th August 2006 on this, the 40th anniversary of its original release.  It will be available digitally (including video downloads), and the digital formats will also include bonus tracks.

He is one of popular music's most deeply revered figures, the main creative force behind some of the most cherished music in rock history. Indeed, it is no exaggeration to call Brian Wilson one of the most influential composers of the last century.

If you’ve seen Brian in concert, you’ve already witnessed the magic and the celebration.  If you’ve heard his records, you know why he’s been called the Mozart of Rock, the Gershwin of his generation.  In a culture where trends change overnight, Wilson has gone the distance.

Brian, after numerous nominations, finally won a well-deserved Grammy Award at the 47th annual awards last year, for ‘Best Rock Instrumental Performance’ for ‘Mrs.O’Leary’s Cow’.

Pet Sounds accolades:

Sir Paul McCartney - It was Pet Sounds that blew me out of the water. I love the album so much. I've just bought my kids each a copy of it for their education in life. I figure no one is educated musically 'til they've heard that album.

Eric Clapton - All of us, Ginger (Baker), Jack (Bruce), and I consider Pet Sounds to be one of the greatest pop LPs to ever be released. It encompasses everything that's ever knocked me out and rolled it all into one. Brian Wilson is, without a doubt, a pop genius.

Elton John - Pet Sounds is a landmark album. For me to say that I was enthralled would be an understatement. I had never heard such magical sounds, so amazingly recorded. It undoubtedly changed the way that I, and countless others, approached recording. It is a timeless and amazing recording of incredible genius and beauty.

Sir George Martin - The first time I heard Pet Sounds, I got that kind of feeling that happens less and less as one gets older and more blasé…that moment when something comes along and blows your mind… It’s like falling in love - you’re swept away by it.

Mike Mills (R.E.M.) - One of the most beautiful and eternal pieces of music ever made. A personal favorite.

To be a part of history in the making you had better be quick to grab your ticket it’s only a small theatre….

Carnie Wilson to Release First Solo Album "A Mother's Gift: Lullabies from the Heart" Inspired by the Birth of Her Daughter Lola Sofia

CD Features Duet of "You Are So Beautiful" with Father Brian Wilson and a Cover of the Carl Wilson Song "Heaven"

Los Angeles, CA -- February, 21, 2006 – One year after the birth of her daughter, Lola Sofia, singer/songwriter/actress Carnie Wilson is releasing her first ever solo album A Mother’s Gift: Lullabies From The HeartThe album is being release through Big3 Records on May 2nd in celebration of Mothers Day.  A Mother’s Gift is a collection of traditional and new songs, all inspired by Carnie’s recent journey into motherhood.

The 12-track CD features such classics such as “Over the Rainbow,” “What A Wonderful World,” and “You Are So Beautiful,” a moving duet with her father Brian Wilson. Additionally there is a cover of the song “Heaven” by her late uncle Carl Wilson. Some of the new tracks include “When You Dream” written by Carnie and her husband Rob Bonfiglio and “With the Sun” written by her sister Wendy. Carnie also recorded a new arrangement of the Elvis Presley classic “Love Me Tender” interpreted as a lullaby.

"After having a baby, I was moved to tears by lullabies (especially the Kenny Loggins “Return to Pooh Corner”). There is something so magical about your baby falling asleep and being soothed by the gentleness of songs. I knew I had to go into the studio and record,” says Carnie.  "I am so fortunate to have my dad singing a duet with me on my CD. ‘You Are So Beautiful’ is the centerpiece of the album, in my opinion. I adore singing with him!”

Carnie Wilson, daughter of legendary Beach Boy co-founder, Brian Wilson, has a varied career as a singer, songwriter, actress, author, and TV talk show host. As a member of Wilson Phillips, she achieved unparalleled first album success selling ten million albums with three number one hit singles including the song “Hold On.”  The group’s second album achieved international multi-platinum success selling three million albums. In 1999 after ballooning to 300 pounds, Carnie had laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery live on the Internet at the Spotlight Health site. Music Legend Brian Wilson Raises Over $200,000 and Makes Over 500 Personal Phone Calls Through His Katrian Donation Challenge

(October 3, 2005 - Los Angeles, CA) Beach Boys co-founder, Grammy winner and music legend Brian Wilson has raised $210,000 and has made over 500 phone calls through his Katrina donation challenge, which ended this past weekend, Saturday, October 1st. He organically launched this challenge via his website on September 22nd where he stated that he would match all cash donations and would make a personal telephone call to thank each donor giving $100 or more.

Wilson does not intend to stop here. He is currently working on a plan to bring Christmas to New Orleans by organizing an event to include a musical performance while tying in a partner to bring toys and the joy of Christmas to the stricken area of New Orleans. Wilson performed at last year's Jazz festival where he felt an incredible connection with the people, musicians, and culture of New Orleans.

"Christmas has always been a special time for me and my family," says Wilson who is set to release his first solo album of Christmas music, "What I Really Want For Christmas" on October 18. "I would love to be able to go down to New Orleans and bring toys and perform for the kids that have lost so much. No kid should be without Christmas"

The Katrina challenge began organically when he posted a note on his message board at www.brianwilson.com and a fan, not believing it was actually Wilson, challenged him to call. Wilson agreed, but only if the fan donated to Katrina relief. From this one exchange came Brian's Katrina challenge where he and his wife Melinda decided to match all cash donations and Brian would call each donor donating over $100.

Brian Wilson Wants Arista for the Holidays

What I Really Want For Christmas, His First Solo Album of Christmas Music, Set for October 18th Release on Arista

Includes new songs with lyrics by Bernie Taupin, Jimmy Webb, new versions of two 1964 Beach Boys yule classics, and 8 Christmas chestnuts

(May 2, 2005 – New York, NY) The ever-productive and always surprising career of American popular music icon Brian Wilson will continue to dazzle old and new fans as he puts the finishing touches on his first solo album of Christmas music. WHAT I REALLY WANT FOR CHRISTMAS, named for its Bernie Taupin-penned title track, will arrive in stores October 18th on Arista Records, it was announced today by Clive Davis, Chairman of BMG U.S.

“Christmas has always been a special time for me and my family,” said Wilson. “And this year will be even more special because I’ll have a new album of holiday songs on Clive Davis' label to celebrate the holiday season. I hope the music means as much to other people as it does to me.”

“I couldn’t be more excited about the prospects of an album than what we look for from Brian Wilson’s ‘What I Really Want For Christmas’. To finally share in his musical genius and help bring this holiday future classic to millions of fans all over the world is truly an honor. We are all overjoyed to be a part of this,” praised Davis.

In addition to “What I Really Want For Christmas,” with lyrics written by Taupin (Elton John’s long-time lyricist), Brian’s new album will feature one more newly-composed tune, “Christmasey,” with lyrics by Jimmy Webb (of “Up, Up and Away” and “By the Time I Get To Phoenix” renown). Brian will also offer new versions of “Little Saint Nick” and “The Man With All the Toys,” which were the two opening songs on 1964’s essential The Beach Boys’ Christmas Album (his last full LP of yuletide songs).

The balance of WHAT I REALLY WANT FOR CHRISTMAS will include new versions of 8 holiday favorites: “Auld Lang Syne,” “Deck The Halls,” “The First Noel,” “God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen,” “Hark, The Herald Angels Sing,” “It Came Upon A Midnight Clear,” “Oh Holy Night,” and “We Wish You A Merry Christmas.” Joining Brian for the album sessions was his ten piece top notch band with a working lineup of Jeffrey Foskett (vocals, lead guitar), Darian Sahanaja (vocals, vibes, keyboards), Probyn Gregory (vocals, guitar, keyboards, horns), Nick Walusko (vocals, guitar), Nelson Bragg (drums), Jim Hines (drums), Bob Lizik (bass), Paul Mertens (flute, saxophones), Scott Bennett (vocals, keyboards, percussion), and Taylor Mills (vocals). The album was produced and arranged by Brian Wilson.

Brian Wilson Presents Smile, his most recent album (September 2004, Nonesuch) con-tinues to astound and inspire everyone who hears it. Prior to the recording, he undertook an extended tour of the U.K., Europe, and eventually the U.S., that first presented the music of his long awaited and finally completed Masterpiece of 1966’s most famous unreleased and unfinished album ever, Smile. This past February, Brian won the first Grammy Award of his career (for “Mrs O'Leary's Cow,” ironically an instrumental track from the 2004 album). With the recording of his Christmas album now finishing up, Brian will embark on an extensive tour of Europe in early June. Starting early in August, Brian and his band will go on tour in the United States presenting Smile, with dates already announced for Jones Beach Amphitheatre in New York (on August 13th) and the Hollywood Bowl (September 4th) expected to be immediate sell-outs.

WHAT I REALLY WANT FOR CHRISTMAS and Brian Wilson Presents Smile are the latest volumes in a resurgence that began in 1988, with the release of his first official solo album, Brian Wilson. After a long hiatus, 1995 brought the prophetically titled documentary film (and companion CD), I Just Wasn’t Made For These Times. That same year, after his marriage to Melinda Ledbetter, Brian issued Orange Crate Art, with long-time collaborator Van Dyke Parks. Imagination followed in 1998, featuring co-writes with Jimmy Buffett, Carole Bayer Sager, J.D. Souther, and others. The indie label BriMel was launched in 2000 with Live At the Roxy Theatre, followed by Getting’ In Over My Head (June 2004), the precursor to …Smile and now, WHAT I REALLY WANT FOR CHRISTMAS.

The Ultimate DVD Collection of Brian Wilson's Critically-Acclaimed SMiLE Arrives on May 24

2-Disc Set Features Documentary, Exclusive Live Performance And Behind-The-Scenes Footage

LOS ANGELES — On May 24 Rhino Home Video delivers BRIAN WILSON PRESENTS SMiLE: THE DVD. The two-disc package features nearly four hours of material, including the documentary Beautiful Dreamer: Brian Wilson And The Story of SMiLE (from LSL Productions, in association with Chautauqua Entertainment), as well as an exclusive performance of SMiLE shot in its entirety in Los Angeles, and nearly two hours of never-before-seen bonus footage. The set will be available at all retail outlets and at www.rhino.com for a suggested retail price of $29.99.

Directed by award-winning writer/producer David Leaf (who also wrote the Brian Wilson biography The Beach Boys & The California Myth), Beautiful Dreamer traces the 37-year saga of Wilson’s most fabled work. Through interviews with celebrated friends, musicians, producers and peers (Sir George Martin, Elvis Costello, Roger Daltrey and film stars Rob Reiner and Jeff Bridges), the documentary explains the ambition and inspiration behind SMiLE’s acclaimed songs, the obstacles that prevented their release and the joyous conclusion at the 2004 Royal Festival Hall debut performance of SMiLE.

BRIAN WILSON PRESENTS SMiLE: THE DVD also includes a 5.1 Surround Sound live performance of SMiLE, as well as never-before-seen interviews with its star, bonus live footage featuring the 2004 Royal Festival Hall performance of “Mrs. O’Leary’s Cow” (a recent Grammy&Mac226; winner for Best Rock Instrumental), plus priceless intimate footage of Wilson at the piano, playing “Rhapsody In Blue,” “Good Vibrations,” “Heroes And Villains,” “Wonderful,” and singing “Cabin Essence.”

In addition, fans are treated to recording session footage, a photo gallery, the theatrical trailer for Beautiful Dreamer, fan and celebrity reaction filmed after the Royal Festival Hall performance, as well as a contest-winning video for “Heroes And Villains.”

Thirty-seven years after he and lyricist Van Dyke Parks began creating SMiLE (Nonesuch Records), the album was released in 2004, giving Brian Wilson his biggest hit in nearly three decades and garnering the pop icon widespread critical acclaim and three Grammy nominations. Featuring Wilson’s touring band of five years augmented by The Stockholm Strings and Horns, SMiLE was dubbed a “masterpiece” by Newsweek and was saluted with the rare and coveted five-star review in Rolling Stone.

Filled with compositions that are complex and sophisticated while glorious and beautiful, SMiLE was originally intended to be the follow-up to The Beach Boys’ iconic breakthrough Pet Sounds. It was to appear in stores in January 1976. In fact, more than 400,000 SMiLE record jackets were printed and ads were taken out in various magazines to prepare for the concept album. After Wilson began performing Pet Sounds live in recent years, he decided to revisit SMiLE in concert at a universally hailed week of performances at the Royal Festival Hall in London in February 2004. Soon after, Wilson returned to Sunset Sound in Hollywood, where he’d originally cut portions of SMiLE, to create the definitive studio recording.

The DVD set documents Wilson’s reunion with Van Dyke Parks, and even finds the lyricist interviewing the musical legend. The DVD’s documentary component was immediately lauded after it debuted on Showtime last year as Beautiful Dreamer: Brian Wilson And The Story of SMiLE. It tells the story of how a boy from Southern California who dreamed of becoming a major league baseball player instead became one of rock music’s greatest visionaries.

Los Angeles, CA January 4, 2005 -- Markus Sandlund, one of the talented cellists from the Stockholm Strings and Horns who performed on Brian Wilson’s album SMiLE, has been reported missing from Phuket, Thailand.

Markus Sandlund (born April 29, 1975) and his girlfriend, Sophia, traveled to Thailand after completing the SMiLE tour in Australia and New Zealand. They were vacationing at the Orchid Beach Resort at Khao Lak (room 112) when the Tsunami hit.

Brian Wilson to be Honored by the Recording Academy® as MUSICARES® 2005 Person of the Year

The 15th Annual Gala Tribute Benefiting the MusiCares® Foundation's Financial Assistance Program Will Be Held Feb. 11, 2005

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (Dec. 1, 2004) – GRAMMY®-nominated composer Brian Wilson will be honored as the MusiCares 2005 Person Of The Year, it was announced today by Neil Portnow, President of the MusiCares® Foundation and The Recording Academy®. Wilson – chosen for his accomplishments as a musician and humanitarian – will receive the honor at a special tribute dinner, concert and silent auction held Friday, Feb. 11, 2005, at the Palladium in Hollywood. The MusiCares tribute dinner is one of the most prestigious events held during GRAMMY Week, a celebration that culminates with the 47th Annual GRAMMY Awards on "GRAMMY Sunday," Feb. 13, 2005. The telecast will be broadcast on the CBS Television Network at 8 p.m. (live in the East, tape delayed in the West).

"We take great pride and joy in saluting Brian Wilson during MusiCares' milestone 15th anniversary of providing a safety net for musicians everywhere," said Portnow. "He embodies the positive spirit that comes from dedication, perseverance and creative brilliance; his contributions to the evolution of music are both legendary and profound. Brian and his music have the power to reach listeners across generations and deliver a musical experience that is timeless and unforgettable – and that's exactly how this year's Person Of The Year event will be on February 11."

A songwriter, producer, arranger and composer, it is no exaggeration to call Wilson one of pop's most influential creators and one of music's most revered figures. Starting in 1961 in his family living room in Southern California, Wilson, his two younger brothers Dennis and Carl, cousin Mike Love and friend Al Jardine first came together to create what would become the quintessential soundtrack to the California Dream – and more than two dozen Top 40 hits, including "Surfer Girl," "I Get Around," "Don't Worry Baby," "Fun, Fun, Fun," and "California Girls." By 1966, the Beach Boys emerged as America's preeminent pop group and also proved to be one of the best-produced groups of the '60s thanks to Wilson's continually evolving studio proficiency. It was this legacy that resulted in the Beach Boys' induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.

By the mid-'60s, Wilson opted not to tour with the Beach Boys to focus solely on studio productions. In 1966, he produced three records that would forever change the course of pop music. The first was Pet Sounds, his musical autobiography, which is considered by many to be one of the greatest albums ever made. The second record was the worldwide No. 1 single "Good Vibrations," a "pocket symphony" deemed one of the seminal singles of all time. His third creation was Smile, a collection of songs that combined classical composition, multipart harmonies, rock rhythms and an avant-garde sensibility, which unquestionably became one of the most anticipated works ever. However, a combination of circumstances, both personal and professional, forced Wilson to shelve the project – and during the subsequent 37 years, Smile became the most famous unfinished, unreleased album in music history.

Throughout the '70s, '80s and '90s, Wilson continued to write, record and produce sonic masterpieces, with the Beach Boys, as a solo artist, and in collaboration with other musicians ("Til I Die," "Love & Mercy," Orange Crate Art with Van Dyke Parks, Brian Wilson, I Just Wasn't Made For These Times, Imagination, Gettin' In Over My Head); and in 2000, he was inducted by Paul McCartney into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Even as he battled personal demons and professional ups and downs, he never lost sight of his "holy grail," Smile. Finally, in 2003, Wilson and his chief Smile collaborator Van Dyke Parks reunited to complete the work, which has been greeted with enthusiastic response from both fans and critics alike.

Earlier this year, Wilson and his band performed Smile to sold-out audiences across Europe, recorded an all-new studio version of the album, and then toured the U.S. Since its release this past September, Smile has garnered rave reviews and already is topping 2004 year-end critics' lists.

Wilson gives generously of his time and talent to worthwhile causes that are near and dear to his heart and the music community. His philanthropic efforts are evident in his ongoing support (through concerts and private donations) of the Carl Wilson Foundation for cancer research (his younger brother succumbed to the disease in 1998), as well as performances at the Adopt-A-Minefield benefit (appearing with Paul McCartney) and Neil Young's Bridge School concert (which raises funds to help ensure that individuals with severe speech and physical impairments achieve full participation in their communities through the use of augmentative and alternative means of communication and assistive technology).

Beautiful Dreamer: Brian Wilson and the Story of SMiLE

Featuring unprecedented interviews with Brian Wilson and a host of music industry greats, from Roger Daltrey to Sir George Martin, Beautiful Dreamer tells the story of the Beach Boy genius’ mythical masterpiece, SMiLE - the most famous unfinished, unreleased album in the history of rock ‘n’ roll.

The film includes exclusive eyewitness accounts by those who were there in 1966, including Wilson’s co-songwriter Van Dyke Parks, as well as commentary from Beatles producer Sir George Martin, Rolling Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldham, Elvis Costello, Roger Daltrey, Jeff Bridges, to Jimmy Webb, Lou Adler, Burt Bacharach, journalists, producers and musicians, together with rare behind-the-scenes footage of the early production of SMiLE.

Slated for release in early 1967 and set to be Brian Wilson’s revolutionary follow-up to the critically acclaimed Pet Sounds, SMiLE was to feature acclaimed tracks such as Good Vibrations, Surf’s Up, and Heroes and Villains. Despite the anticipation, it was never completed, and in the 37 years hence, it became a mythical piece of music. Beautiful Dreamer charts the journey of SMiLE, from its initial inception in 1966, in the midst of the Beach Boys’ rising commercial pop success, through the creative processes and collaborations from which SMiLE came about, to its disappearance into obscurity for over thirty years. Enshrouded in tales of mind-blowing avant-garde brilliance, Beautiful Dreamer explains the enduring impact of SMiLE on Brian and his musical collaborators, until its live renaissance in 2004, at the Royal Festival Hall, London.

For six months from the end of 2003, director David Leaf and his crew intimately chronicled Wilson’s world, from the studio completion of SMiLE, to the first vocal rehearsals, through the world premiere performance of SMiLE in London, which features a cameo from Sir Paul McCartney. With the total participation and authorisation of Brian Wilson, including candid admissions about his mental health and drug use over the years, Leaf has created a unique film - a combination of historical documentary and a behind-the-scenes portrait on the creation, denouement and resurrection of SMiLE.

All this, alongside a treasure trove of original photographs, and simple, astonishing footage of Wilson performing some of the best known and musically lauded pop songs in history – including a complete performance of Surf’s Up, on a 1967 CBS News special hosted by Leonard Bernstein - combine to create a complex, and by turns humorous and painful portrait of one of the modern geniuses of contemporary pop music.

SYNOPSIS
Featuring unprecedented interviews with Brian Wilson and a host of music industry greats, from Roger Daltrey to Sir George Martin, plus rare behind-the-scenes footage of the early production of SMiLE, Beautiful Dreamer tells the story of the Beach Boy genius’ mythical masterpiece - the most famous unfinished, unreleased album in the history of rock ‘n’ roll.

For six months from the end of 2003, director David Leaf and his crew intimately chronicled Wilson’s world, from the studio completion of SMiLE, to the first vocal rehearsals, through the world premiere performance of SMiLE in London. With the total participation and authorisation of Brian Wilson, including candid admissions about his mental health and drug use over the years, Leaf has created a unique film - a combination of historical documentary and a behind-the-scenes portrait on the creation, denouement and resurrection of SMiLE.

DIRECTOR’S WORDS
‘Beautiful Dreamer first needed to explain the special place in the pop music pantheon that Brian Wilson occupied in the fall of 1966… when, in the wake of the avant-garde single, ‘Good Vibrations,’ the entire music world was literally wondering what the Beach Boys musical leader would do next.’

To do that, and also give the audience the feeling of what it was like to live in the midst of SMiLE - a creative era when anything was possible - the key participants (including Wilson and his collaborator Van Dyke Parks) sat for unprecedented, comprehensive interviews. Candidly, for the first time ever, they told the story of their famous (and, regrettably infamous) creation, SMiLE.’

‘It is the SMiLE music (composed, arranged and produced by Wilson) which has lead so many to become consumed by the legend of SMiLE, to wonder what happened to it, to speculate how the world might have been different had SMiLE been completed and released in 1967 and, most of all, to ultimately regard it as the ‘holy grail’ of rock ‘n’ roll.’

‘What was vital to the success of the film was to explain how SMiLE wasn’t just hype, the creation of a brilliant publicist.’ To do that, to give credence to Wilson’s ambition to record – ‘a teenage symphony to God’ - Sir George Martin, Andrew Loog Oldham and Roger Daltrey (representing the triumvirate of group’s who were competing with Wilson’s Beach Boys for pop supremacy in the mid-1960s) all contributed their commentary to the film, giving the perspective from ‘across the pond’, where SMiLE, the eagerly anticipated follow-up to Pet Sounds, was talked about in whispered excitement.’

‘But SMiLE was much more than an industry myth. The buzz on this record was so strong that it caught the attention of the cultural establishment. So that we can feel the impact that SMiLE might have had on the public, the first act of the film concludes with Wilson’s complete performance of ‘Surf’s Up’ (from a 1967 CBS News special on pop music hosted by the most important American maestro in classical music, Leonard Bernstein). It is on that appearance that we can viscerally come to understand how important Brian was in 1967…and how big an impact the music of SMiLE was making, even before it was released.’

‘Finishing SMiLE, Brian once observed, would be like ‘raising the Titanic.’ Well, we were there as he actually "raised the Titanic," a colossal moment in cultural history.’

BACKGROUND NOTES ON BRIAN WILSON
Before 1966, Brian Wilson had been responsible for some of the most beloved records ever - Surfer Girl, Fun, Fun, Fun and California Girls, to name just a handful of the dozens of hit records he produced for his family band, the Beach Boys.

In 1966, that Wilson produced three records that forever changed the course of popular music: The first was Pet Sounds, and it is considered to be one of the greatest albums ever made. The second was a single, Good Vibrations, and it proved that the recording studio was a place where art could be created. The third was SMiLE. It was to be the next step - a suite of songs that combined beautiful harmonies, rock sensibilities and the avant-garde. It represented the entire history of American music in one piece and told a story of an America that could be as good as its ideals.

SMiLE was never completed. During the past 37 years, it has become the most talked about unreleased album in music history. As Newsweek magazine recently reported, imagine if the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's hadn't come out back in 1967.
