"Gettin' In Over My Head"
Rhino Records

With the pace of a speeding glacier, ex-Beach Boy Brian Wilson releases his first studio recordings since his 1998 album, "Imagination."

Cameos by Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney and Elton John, and a vocal track from Wilson's late brother, Carl, give this album a timeless quality that recalls the best of classic Beach Boys music.

While almost every tune on this disc stands as a radio-friendly summer pop hit, the collaboration between Clapton and Wilson on "City Blues" is outstanding.

Wilson lures Slowhand out of his blues mode and lets his Stratocaster scream. This is Clapton's finest rock solo on record in more than a decade.

Gearheads and "409" fans, check out "Desert Drive," the song that bridges the gap between old Beach Boys and out-of-his-room Wilson.
